INTRODUCTION

Ayacucho is a beautiful city of traditions and customs. It is located on the eastern slope of the Andes mountain range of Peru. Its climate is characterized by being temperate, pleasant and dry throughout the year. This place is also called the “City of Churches” for having 37 Catholic churches. Very popular among national and foreign tourists due to its tourist attractions, Ayacucho is internationally famous for its artistic manifestations and especially for its Holy Week celebrations, which is considered the second most important in the world.

Wednesday March 27: LIMA - AYACUCHO

19:30 hrs EXACT TIME Meeting point: Calle Comercio s/n – San Borja (back of the Museum of the Nation). 20:00 hrs Departure by tourist bus to the city of Ayacucho (approximately 10 hours of travel, Full Equipment Bus, Heating, Air Conditioning, Chemical Bath, TV-DVD, Music, Microphone, Snack on board)

Thursday March 28: AYACUCHO IN – CITY TOUR

A.M. Arrival in Ayacucho, transfer and accommodation according to the chosen hotel. Free morning to acclimatize.

Lunch (Free on behalf of the Passenger). 2:30 p.m. We will begin our guided tour of the Colonial Historical Center of Huamanga, first we will taste the famous natural ice cream “Muyuchi” which has digestive and ancient properties. Then we will enter the Casona Velarde Álvarez where the UNSM Cultural Center currently operates, the Andrés A Museum. Cáceres, the typical Huamanga streets, the temple of Santa Teresa where you can taste and purchase the products made in that place such as spicy jam, we will continue with the visit of the most important Temples in the city of Huamanga. Accommodation in Ayacucho.

Friday March 29: WARI QUINOA

Breakfast. Departure to Wari, to the capital of the First Andean Empire (Pre-Inca culture): Site Museum, the Templo Mayor, Monjachayuq neighborhood and Cheqowasi. Then you will visit the town of Quinua, which is characterized by being purely Pottery. One kilometer from the town is the Historical Sanctuary of the Pampa de Ayacucho, where the Battle of Ayacucho took place for the independence of Peru and America.

Saturday March 30: AYACUCHO – FREE

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day for personal activities. Overnight.

In the morning you could enjoy the parades and celebrations of Pascua Toro and at night you could appreciate the ceremonies on the 4 corners in the main square with typical Ayacucho dances, castle burnings and other activities.

Sunday March 31: AYACUCHO - LIMA

Breakfast at the hotel. 10:00 hrs. We will board the bus returning to Lima. Along the way we will make stops at safe establishments to buy food. 10:00 p.m. Arrival in Lima, point of origin.

05:00 hrs. At dawn the Procession of the Risen Christ begins in a majestic parade of hundreds of lit candles.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Bring mid-season clothing (coat for the night, light clothing for the day), sunscreen, repellent, personal hygiene kit, hiking shoes and waterproof poncho.
