Washington DC WA

About the city

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and commonly referred to as Washington, "the District", or simply D.C., is the capital of the United States. Located along the Potomac River on the country's East Coast, the District is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the United States Congress and is therefore not a part of any U.S. state. The White House, symbolically the most important building of the country, is where US Presidents have lived and worked for more than 200 years. Dominating the Washington DC skyline stands the Washington Monument. It is dedicated to the first US President George Washington. Recognized around the world and a remarkable neoclassical landmark, The Capitol is where the US Senate and House of Representatives meet. The National Cathedral is the most well-known US cathedral. This beautiful building has been the site for many national memorial services. Among the country's most important institutions, the Supreme Court offers tours to learn about its history and inner workings. Dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, the Lincoln Memorial was completed in 1922 and it is modelled after Greek temples. The magnificent Library of Congress is the largest library in the world and houses approximately 90 million archives materials. The Jefferson Memorial is modelled after Rome's Pantheon and is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, third US President and one of the Founding Fathers. D.C. shed its former reputation as a boring and dangerous city and it now has shopping, dining, and nightlife befitting a world-class metropolis. Travellers will find the city new, exciting, and decidedly cosmopolitan and international.

American Museum of Natural History

day 5 - Entrada general
One of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, the American Museum of Natural History has been at the forefront of public attention for almost 150 years.

Renowned for its exhibitions and scientific collections, which serve as a guide to the entire planet and present a panorama of the world's diverse cultures, visitors of all ages will be enchanted by what they find inside these historic walls. Choose from three different ticket options to make the most of this cultural gem of New York.

Choose the General Admission ticket to enter and explore the many wonders of the American Museum of Natural History (which includes the world famous dinosaur halls)

You also have the option to enhance your experience by selecting the General Admission plus one of the following special exhibitions or shows.

At the Butterfly Sanctuary you will mingle with more than 500 live, free-flying tropical butterflies in an enclosed habitat that imitates their natural environment with lush vegetation and live flowering plants.

We get to know our world through some, or all of our senses—sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste—but they’re just parts of a much larger puzzle. The highly experiential exhibition “Our Senses” delves into how our brains work with sensory organs to shape our perceptions and reveals how, until recently in our evolutionary history, humans have been oblivious to nature’s other crucial signals, including UV light, infrared sounds, and electrical fields.

The Space Show: discover the Dark Universe in the Hayden Planetarium, celebrate the pivotal discoveries that have led us to greater knowledge of the structure and history of the universe and our place in it—and to new frontiers for exploration.

To really do the Museum justice, choose the third option and receive General Admission plus access to all of the special exhibitions and shows. Whichever option you pick, you are sure to have an unforgettable day learning about the world around you.

Closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Space Show has audio in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese.
